Formerly known as the Los Angeles County (LAC) and + USC Medical Center (County General) is now Los Angeles General Medical Center. Combining two world class facilities to provide healthcare to the Los Angeles County community. A 600-bed public teaching hospital, one of the largest public hospitals and medical training centers in the United States and the single largest providers of healthcare in LA. One of the busiest hospitals in the Western United States serving over one-million patients each year. Originally founded in 1879. Currently operated by Los Angeles County.

Los Angeles General Medical Center also serves the Navy Trauma Training Center and the Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health. 

Services Include: Level I trauma center. Burn unit, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Units, medical, surgical, emergency/trauma, obstetrical, gynecological and pediatric services as well as psychiatric services.


Dignity Health – California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC)

A 318-bed acute care hospital that provides medical care to the dynamic community of downtown Los Angeles in the South Park district of the city. Treating over 70,000 patients each year. A Level II Traumac Center. Original established in 1887 by Dr. Walter Lindley.

CHMC offers a comprehensive range of surgical services, including general surgery, emergency medicine, cardiology (with a catheterization lab and open-heart surgery), gynecology, orthopedics, cancer center, and specialized procedures utilizing the latest robotic technology for non-invasive surgery. Women’s Health, obstetrics and pediatric services, and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
